The Reason I Got Windows 10
Feb. 18th, 2023 02:38 pmI upgraded my computer to Windows 10 when it first came out... because of Sonic.
At first I wasn't impressed by the new operating system, but then I learned that it was able to run a PC version of Sonic Dash. After playing a couple of runs on my sister's laptop, I decided I wanted my own copy of the game, so I upgraded to Windows 10 solely to download it from the Microsoft Store.
After unlocking all the characters and wallpapers, I realized that the PC version was different from the mobile version. That is, the PC version never gets any updates, unlike the mobile game, so there's no new character skins, no events, no unlockable home menu backgrounds from rescuing Critters, nada. The only things I like about PC Sonic Dash more than mobile are: the battle music playing at the start of the boss's appearance instead of after, and the bigger screen size. But if it wasn't for the PC version, I might not have downloaded the mobile version at all (even though I had to wait until I got a better smartphone anyway).
I still have Sonic Dash on my computer today. It amuses me to remember it's the reason I got Windows 10, which I was lucky to get for free while I could.
