Sonic Prime
Sep. 13th, 2025 12:28 pmI'm surprised I haven't posted about Sonic Prime yet, since it ended a while ago. Maybe that's because I was more disappointed in it than anything.
I'll start with what I didn't like, then move on to what I did enjoy. I had a bad feeling when I saw a teaser trailer for the show because of the way Sonic said, "I gotta go help my friends!" I fully expected lots of power-of-friendship themes done poorly, and I was correct. It just felt... insincere, forced. Then there was the concept as a whole. Sonic will journey to different dimensions? Sounded cool, but I wanted things like, I don't know, maybe the appearance of characters who still haven't appeared in any Sonic shows yet? Like Silver, Blaze, and the Babylon Rogues? Maybe timelines where Maria lived? Instead all we got was a couple worlds where the selective main cast and some random Mobians live in a different setting. Pirate world. Jungle world. Riveting.
Shadow's here too, barely more tolerable than his Boom version, serving no real purpose until later episodes. Eggman's the only human that exists because reasons. Except now there's five of him. Metal Sonic's here! Except not really, and only for a short while. =C Also, the Paradox Prism is yet another magic gem that exists. And it's all connected to the videogames somehow.
I did like the art style; it was very pleasing to look at. The voices were good, too. And the idea of Tails as an antagonist was so cool and I thought it was decently done overall! I also liked Amy's friendship with a pink Flicky and how it carried on even in the other dimensions because it reminded me of Sonic Adventure 1 and it showed her sweet and caring side nicely. The action scenes were cool, as expected. Surprisingly, I actually liked the different designs of the different Eggmen. The baby's even cute. XD But the absolute best parts were all the Knuckles and Rouge moments. ♥ ^w^
Sonic Prime makes for an okay spinoff short series. But something about it doesn't really hold up compared to all the other Sonic shows, even Sonic Boom, interestingly enough.
