First Time Playing The Sims 1
Aug. 6th, 2022 10:30 amMy hubby picked up a box of old stuff that someone was giving away... and it included The Sims 1, along with a few expansions! I had never played the original game before, so I was excited to try it out. It took forever to get it working on my Windows 10, but I succeeded in the end.
The expansions are Hot Date, Vacation, and Unleashed, which all suit me just fine. I played the tutorial with Bob and Betty Newbie, then later played as me and my hubby's Simselves. Two things that stand out the most compared to other Sim games I played are the graphics and the difficulty. To my surprise, the aesthetics don't bother me that much. It's pretty cute the way they gesticulate and interact with each other. Keeping their Needs high is a challenge, but a welcoming one nevertheless.
Right now, I'm surviving on the "rosebud" money cheat until the newspaper finally offers the job I want. XD I plan on adopting Cher the stray dog and buying a cat at the pet shop, and maybe some birds. My hubby will advance his career at least a few levels before getting promoted gets to be too much of a hassle, and in the meantime I will start a little home garden and provide love and supplies to any pets that visit our lot.
I'm glad The Sims 1 still has guides, videos, and resources to look up after so many years. Playing it has been a good way to satisfy my Simming urges until I'm ready to continue on The Sims 4.
