Shadow Generations

Shadow Generations was not what I expected (thanks to having little to none for it, heh). I've only watched the gameplay on YouTube, but now it's on my wishlist. =)
First of all, it looks so freaking gorgeous! This is now officially my favorite visual style for the Sonic games; please keep it like this from now on.
Maria is an adorable angel. Enough said.
And, uh, I see that Gerald has lost weight. LOL. (But seriously, I think I liked him being fat more.)
I liked seeing a glimpse into how Maria and Shadow met, but it kind of contradicts the Shadow the Hedgehog game because little Abraham witnessed Shadow waking up with Gerald and Black Doom in the room.
I do appreciate the small story recap as an optional cutscene to watch before you start a new game. It's super basic, but at least brand new players can get the minimal gist of Shadow's background. I know I would've appreciated something like this back when I played ShTH, because a lot of it confused me due to never playing Sonic Adventure 2 before.
I am now starting to somewhat tolerate Kirk's voice for Shadow. But Rouge saying, "Whatever!" pretty much confirmed my distaste for hers because I swear, she sounds like a stereotypical dumb blonde. 🤦
I don't know why, but Sonic looks very cute to me in this. I love him. And I like that Big was here. I kind of want to see him and Shadow being friends now, lol.
A random detail I thought was also cute was Maria saying she enjoyed and did well on her essay report about Chao. 😇
The ending was sad but sweet. I like that now Shadow's most recent memory of Gerald and Maria is of them smiling together at him.

And holy shit, the Shadow/Maria moments!! Just like with the Dark Beginnings prologue, I wasn't expecting it! I felt their love and it made me all warm and fuzzy.

I immediately went, "Oh my god they're copying Tekken 8!" I was squealing with joy.

Peak "Beauty and the Beast/Tender Moment Before the Final Battle" vibes! The whole story was right up my alley: classic Sonic shonen anime. Nice!
Now, about what I've seen of the gameplay. I like how... animated... Shadow is. Like, this is the most expressive I've seen him in a long time, especially his face. And in the game, he like, whenever he gets a Doom Gear, he presses it into his chest. And in Sunset Heights, the Egg Pawns squirm and wiggle when they get pushed up by water streams. XD And sometimes Shadow lands on the ground by rolling and then gets back up skating in one fluid motion. All these little details really caught my attention.
I do wish there were proper boss battles for Sonic and Infinite could've been brought back for one, too.
I like how Shadow has a green glowing aura around him when he uses Chaos Control. The afterimages of him are so cool.
And I like that Radical Highway was saved for last. 😎
Lastly, I really loved that they made White Space a proper hub world! Though they should've upgraded the original Sonic Generations part with it, too! Oh well.
All in all, Shadow Generations is a Sonic game I genuinely like so much. I hope Shadow can help bring back at least Maria someday, but the ending closed in a way that satisfied me enough to not mind if it's really the last time he sees her. I'm inspired for this year's Shadria Week, I can tell you that much. ;D
